Emirates to Launch Sensory Guides and Services for Neurodiverse Passengers

Emirates has announced plans to introduce sensory guides and new services to improve the travel experience for passengers with autism and sensory sensitivities. These initiatives are part of the airline's efforts to become the world’s first Autism Certified Airline, supporting Dubai’s goal of becoming the most accessible destination globally.

Key Features of the New Services:

  • Sensory Guides: Digital tools created after conducting audits of Dubai locations and Emirates flights, providing sensory-related details like sound levels, lighting, and potential triggers.

  • Neurodiverse Sensory Products: The airline will provide sensory fidget toys to help passengers focus and reduce stress during flights.

  • Specialized Training: Over 30,000 cabin crew and ground staff will undergo autism and sensory awareness training to better cater to the needs of neurodiverse passengers.

  • Certification: Emirates will soon receive the Autism Certified Airline designation from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

These new services come after a survey revealed that most families with autism hesitate to travel due to a lack of accessible destinations and services. Emirates aims to fill this gap by creating more inclusive travel experiences.
